The continuous advances of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Since the beginning of the AI revolution, people have started rethinking the way to solve problems using technology. With the introduction of Data Science, AI has been more acknowledged in many wide domains with new ideas and applications that were proposed in novel areas we never thought we could permit. Hence, we have started believing that thinking outside of the box is no more an issue, and breaking the limits in solutions modeling is no more a challenge.

AI breaks the traditions!

Artificial Intelligence (AI) was started as a definition of mimicking human intelligence in taking actions based on past learning from different observations. The computer applying AI technology could be imagined as a programmed tool that executes well-defined rules to give the most accurate decisions that are simply conditioned by the data. From this point, AI has known many useful applications where it designs machine learning algorithms to solve redundant problems that could be automated such as:

  • Email and spam detection

  • Credit card score prediction

  • Movies and books recommendation

  • Housing price prediction

  • Stock market forecasting

  • Sentiment analysis

These classic problems and applications had the attention of the users and proved the ability of AI to assist business owners and decision-makers with fast and robust automation.

Since the Deep Learning revolution, AI has shifted the gears and changed all its measures and definitions to directly target the end-user and explore more breakthroughs. For example, models have become more complex than before because of the high capacities of computers (i.e. HPC, GPUs, TPUs..etc), and applications could now bring different modalities together (images, text, documents, audio..etc) so that the models could follow broad logic and solve more complex problems such as:

  • Image-to-text captioning

  • Text generation from image

  • Image generation from text

  • Speech recognition

  • Image segmentation

  • Question-answering

  • Image synthesis

  • Text summarization

AI continues to grow with more possibilities!

If we think about the numerous existing AI models, we notice a tremendous growth in the ideas that made AI a competitive market and a golden gate to creativity and imagination. Following the social media news, we could easily hear every day about a new model solving an almost-impossible problem we could imagine. Famous examples are DALL-E-2, IMAGEN, Stable Diffusion, and more, which blew our minds with phenomenal results for image generation from a single prompt.

With a closer look at the business application of AI, we could see a rapid pace of innovation in introducing business tools that helped many industries to be leaders in their fields.

Many companies have become AI-driven and focus on automating their tasks such as manufacturing which has been using more robotics to minimize wasted time and elaborate on productivity. Other examples are healthcare which now has more AI opportunities with better image processing tools, treatment optimization, disease analysis, and managing insurance risks.

 

AI is transforming everyday life and revolutionizing the way technology alleviates challenges in many different areas. Despite this continuous growth, innovation has no limits to saturate the market or stop the generous contribution of AI to our life.
